Book Review: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda

Book Review: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda

Rating: 5/5

My View:

Exceptionally this is the best book I have read so far from spiritual collections, although I have read these types of book in my mother tongue but to read this autobiography is totally different experience.

India is a fertile land for spirituality and from thousands of years people are coming here for spiritual awakening.  This book is a good platform for those who want to start their spiritual life.  Many people were saying that this is a humbug book or there is no authenticity about this book, but after reading this book I totally disagree with them because whatever written in this book is totally true there is no fiction, those who has experienced even a glimpse of metaphysics, spirituality or religion will totally agree with the writing of Yogananda. A long lost path for self realization is properly uncovered to general public by Paramhansa Yogananda.

Autobiography of a yogi is a journey of Bengali boy in search of god; the book begins with small miracle which he performs against her sister by controlling the kite, he ran away from his home for more than twice to Himalayan Mountain to become a sage. The path for self realization is Kriya Yoga, which is given much importance in the book, but how to do kriya yoga is not revealed in the book you have to learn this technique at his teaching place in Kolkata and in California (USA). Kriya Yoga is a technique which directly connects to God.

As I am Indian I have came across such people who have experienced supernatural person and having gone through their powers, I totally agree what Paramhansa Yogananda has written in his biography. I highly recommend this book to those who want to know about metaphysics, supernatural power, and east i.e. India for spirituality awakening.

P.S. I came to know while searching on net that this was the only book downloaded by Steve Jobs in his iPad.
