My View:

I still remember the event of my college inauguration in 2001, where A P J Abdul Kalam visited and has given very inspiring speech at that time, also I was fortunate to see him from a distance of just 10 feet, I will never forget this moment in my life.

Now about this book, our former cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly launched this book on Teacher’s day i.e. on 5th September 2015 in Kolkata. The book is a collection of various speech and sayings of A P J Abdul kalam, tribute given by media, scientists, students and persons who were working with Dr Kalam, also there are interviews of his (dr kalam’s) family member. The book is a memorial to Dr Kalam, who worked his entire life for the betterment of India. Even at the age of 83 he used to travel to meet different places of India, to give speech on education, vision and for growth of India.
A P J Abdul Kalam who was loved to be known as teacher, missile man and 11th President of India passed away what he loved the most, delivering the lecture or rather teaching before the students of IIM Shilong on 27th July 2015. A down-to-earth personality, he loved to interact with school students, he inspired them to convert their dreams into reality.

Journey of a Legend: A child born in 1931 in a middle class family in Rameshwaram in south India, his father owned a boat and rented to a local fisherman, for his career he became newspaper vendor, he earned his degree of aeronautical from madras, Kalam joined Vikram Sarabhai at Kerala in 1960 as first three engineers, played a major role for satellite launch vehicle (SLV), he worked for DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) and ISRO, Indian scientist has acclaimed him as a missile man and father of Indian nuclear bomb, kalam was proud to be known as Made in India and his Indian education, he became the 11th president of India.

This is a must read book not only for the youths but for education system, as this is giving a good message which will help to develop our nation from the ground level i.e. through schools and teachers. An inspirational book, Dr Kalam proved that dreams really can be turned into reality with hard work.

What I liked the most in the book:
  • Site to establish a space research station at Thumba in Kerala. Government was unable to vacant this place, but with the help of Bishop’s father the place was vacated. Page no 66
  • Inspiring story of Mario Capecchi and his quotes. Page no 88
  • One of the best speeches of A P J Abdul Kalam from entire book at IIT Hyderabad about freedom is most inspiring speech and I think every Indian school should circulate this speech among students. Page no 117
  • A good tribute to A P J Abdul Kalam by Hair Stylist Habib Ahmed on page 222.
  • Poem: Indomitable Spirit on page 259

Blurb For Pupils’ President:

The students’ diligent teacher, the nation’s gifted scientist, the humble ‘People’s President’ - an indefinable name he is. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. A man who dedicated his life and work to the betterment of a nation, and his time and energy to the billions of young minds he wished to ignite. He has left back dreams in everyone, and the undying inspiration to make those dreams come true.
A surfeit of contents has been interwoven to give this book a shape. To read through the pages will mean a journey through his life in entirety. Besides Kalam’s own speeches and quotes, it also contains literary tributes by scientists, academicians and students, the interviews of his family members, and a real-time anecdote of his interment ceremony at Rameswaram.
This isn’t just a tribute, but a world beyond it to be read, explored and discovered.
