My Review:
Wow something new to read this time, a novel very well intertwined between history and fictional characters, excellent work. A good lesson provided by author to the readers, how people used to live at the time of Mohenjo-Daro, it Sims like watching the play of an ancient civilization. The character build up is very good, especially the protagonist character ‘Koli’. One of the best things which I liked in the book is narration style of the author; a life has been given to the death civilization through his words.
Now about the plot, the story revolves between three main characters: Koli, Sindhu and Girad. Koli is smart, intelligent, artistic and skilled girl, and the daughter of one of the respected council members. Koli’s farther wants to marry her to Sindhu, another skilled man from next town, who shifts to their village because of complete destruction due to natural calamity; he was the only survival of doom. On the other hand, Girad is a failed businessman, a calculative and manipulative person. Girad wants to marry Koli and would do anything to get things on his way, and so Girad tricks koli’s father to marry her.
The book is divided into three parts, in first part introduction and plotting of character is done. Also custom and tradition of that era is highlighted. In second part married life of koli and girad is provided. And in third part, many secret’s has been revealed by the author.
Only thing which I didn’t like is the cover page of the book, the cover page doesn’t match with the storyline.
I highly recommend this book, especially to the history lovers. A good research is done by the author on civilization (7 years of research on Mohenjo-Daro), culture, art, architecture, infrastructure and general life of that era.
