Nikon Announces US Availability of New D5200 DSLR

Nikon has announced the US availability of the new Nikon D5200 digital SLR camera.  The 24.1 megapixel Nikon D5200 succeeds the D5100, featuring a new EXPEED 3 image processor, ISO range of 100-6400 which is extendable to 25600, 3-inch vari-angle LCD monitor, Fulll 1080p HD movies, 5fps burst shooting, 39-point AF system, 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor, the Scene Recognition System and a new generation GUI Design. Priced at $899.95 with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens, the Nikon D5200 will be available in late January in three colours (black, red and bronze).

At 768 x 1280 pixels with a ppi of 332 the Lumia 920 scores over 620, which has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels with 246 ppi. Both the devices have capacitative multi-touch screen. While Lumia 620 has TFT technology, the 920 has IPS LCD.

Battery

Lumia 920 scores on this point too. While it has a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery the Lumia 620 has a 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery. Moreover, 920’s battery offers more talk time, even on the stand-by mode.

Hardware

While the Lumia 620 has a QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 system chip and Dual core, 1000 MHz processor, the Lumia 920 has Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 plus MSM8960 system chip and Dual core, 1500 MHz, Krait processor, giving it a distinct edge. Moreover, 920 has a better system memory. While it has 1024 MB RAM, Lumia 620 has 512 MB RAM. It also has less amount of built-in-storage. While it has 8 GB storage facility the Lumia 920 has a storage capacity of 32 GB. However, with microSD facility 620’s storage capacity may be expanded to 64 GB.

Camera

The Lumia 920 scores hands down on this front. With an 8.7 MP camera and Dual LED it scores over Lumia 620, which has a 5 MP single LED camera. The big bro from Lumia stable also boast of a better front-facing camera. While it has a 1.3 MP camera the front-facing camera of 620 is only 0.3 MP. Needless to say that Lumia 920 has better video recording facilities too.

Connectivity

Both has 3.0 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. While the Lumia 620 has 802.11 a,b,g,n Wi-Fi, the Lumia 920 has 802.11 a,b,g,n, 5GHz Wi-Fi. Both features USB 2.0 with microUSB.

Availability

While the scheduled release of Lumia 620 is January 2013, the big bro has been available since September 2012.

Conclusion

From the specs it is clear that Nokia Lumia 920 has several advantages. Be it the battery power, the storage capacity, the camera, the processor – it scores over the Lumia 620. However, the Lumia 620 is a lot sleeker and lighter than the Lumia 920. And it would be much more pocket-friendly.
